Process Design Engineer Water & Wastewater

Our client is seeking to recruit Water & Wastewater Process Design Engineer to join their team in Sligo


  • Be aware of project budgets and time allowances
  • Manage time inputs of self and other team members
  • Manage sub-consultants
  • Assist in the preparation of fee accounts and fee forecasts
  • Organise investigations, surveys and studies relevant to process design
  • Preparation of Preliminary Reports and Feasibility Studies
  • Assist in the Design of Pumping Stations and networks where relevant to water / wastewater quality
  • Design of Wastewater Treatment Plants
  • Design of Water Treatment Plants
  • Assist in the Preparation of Design Risk Assessments
  • Assist in the Preparation of Preliminary Safety and Health Plans
  • Assist with Planning Permission Applications
  • Manage flow of drawing requirements to Technicians
  • Preparation of Employer’s Requirements and Contract Documents
  • Preparation of Tender Documents
  • Assist in Tendering and Procurement Processes
  • Provide Technical Support to Contract Manager
  • Provide Technical Support to Resident Engineers
  • Interact with, meet with and Report to Client as may be relevant to process
  • Assess Interim Payment Applications / milestones
  • Monitor commissioning of water and wastewater treatment plants
  • Prepare Final Accounts
  • Assist in the preparation / assessment of Safety File and Handover Documents


  • Level 8 Degree qualified in civil, environmental, chemical, mechanical engineering or related discipline;
  • Chartered Engineer;
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in the design of water supply and wastewater treatment projects;
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team and a willingness to learn and develop;
  • Knowledge of relevant software will be an advantage.


  • Strong technical ability;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong capability in MS Office (MS Word and MS Excel in particular, MS Project desirable);
  • Capacity to self-motivate;
  • Ability to work within a team;
  • Demonstrated learning ability
  • Knowledge of applicable EU and Irish Legislation.
