IT Infrastructure Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Central role in the support of organisation-wide IT infrastructure which includes:
  • Desktop support
  • Windows handheld device support
  • VMWare environment
  • Windows 2003-2012
  • Windows AD 2012
  • Office 365
  • Microsoft Hyper-V
  • 45-site MPLS wide area network
  • Wireless inter-site networks
  • Local networks – switching, routing, VLANs, etc.
  • IT Security – all aspects including perimeter, patching, DLP, etc.
  • Data backup
  • Disaster recovery and business continuity
  • Desktop and laptop hardware
  • 250 mobile devices including 50 handheld terminals
  • RFID
  • Upcoming project work includes:

-Datacentre refresh – hyperconverged solution
-Cybersecurity improvements
-Network and infrastructure monitoring
-ERP

Required:

  • Ability to work on own initiative or as directed as part of a team
  • Strong hands-on infrastructure engineering experience in the technologies detailed above.
  • 3-5 years’ experience of IT infrastructure support
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated initiative
  • Ability to work under pressure and to demanding timelines
  • Ability to lead initiatives and projects
  • Ability to achieve assigned annual KPIs
  • Participation in IT out-of-hours support service rota
  • Proven track record of managing functional and cross-functional teams
  • Excellent oral and written communication and inter-personal skills are required
  • A degree in a computing-related discipline
