Overview Production Planner

The successful candidate will contribute to the planning and purchasing of the necessary materials from selected vendors to support production and assist in the sourcing of vendors where necessary. Maintain a thorough knowledge of every aspect of inventory throughout the site. Schedule material through manufacturing to ensure production is supported at all times. Identify and develop system solutions and enhancements to improve productivity. Initiate cost reduction programs where opportunities exist for example by pursuing new vendors for more cost-effective purchases. The successful candidate must ensure the necessary finished goods are available to meet demand and deadlines.

Buyer Planner Job Responsibilities

  • Daily production scheduling across multiple production resources
  • Responsible for the execution of the Company’s production & inventory control process
  • Direct material procurement and associated supplier management activities
  • Support monthly inventory management routines
  • Ensure all master data items are correct
  • Ensure all supplier pricing is correct
  • Produce the monthly production planning scorecard
  • Supplier relationship management
  • Manage inventory within agreed levels
  • Ensure OTIF Targets are maintained
  • Continuous monitoring of plan attainment and amending plans where needed
  • Develop KPI’s to drive production improvements
  • Weekly KPI reporting and development
  • Capacity planning and utilisation
  • Measure and improve OEE and machine uptime with production team
  • Ensure scheduled maintenance and PM’s are planned
  • Liaising with various Departments in relation to the introduction of new products
  • Lead and participate in production meetings

Skills and Requirements

  • 5 years’ experience working in a similar role
  • 3 years’ experience working in a similar environment
  • Ideally APICs or CPIM qualified
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working in a fast-paced production environment
  • The ability to manage several priorities at once
  • Analytically minded, to provide data and reports to ensure production efficiencies data drives production Improvements
  • Experience in lean process improvements an advantage
